Music in the Night is an app with the aim of helping clients with sleeping problems. The app responds to voice sounds, e.g. shouting, and then plays music of your choice for a certain amount of time. As a caretaker you can set it up for your client, eg on a tablet next to the bed, and then it works during the night.
What is the purpose?
Music in the Night is an app for people with sleeping problems. It is designed for EMB clients, who wake up during the night and then tend to shout. The app responds to voice sounds, then calms the client with music, which plays automatically. The goal is that they get a better night’s sleep. The alternative is now often that there is music on all night and that is not good for deep sleep.
How does it work?
The app plays music when you make a sound (for example, when you call or talk). You can set how loud you have to shout, how often you have to shout and how long the music plays. The dark colors and star background ensure that you do not wake up extra at night by the app and that you can go back to sleep. If the screen goes black, the app continues to listen in the background. The app is not connected to the internet and no client data is passed on or stored. There are some standard music in it, but on Android devices you can also select the music that is already on it, so your own music choice.

You can download the app for Windows (link). Download everything in the folder and put it somewhere on a PC. Then click on the application ‘Muziek in de Nacht,’ to start.
The old Android version (with your own music and recordings)
It might help if I explain what’s going on with the app in 2024:
- The old version of the app was good and could play your own music, but it became too old for the Google Play Store.
- There is a new version of the app in the Google Play Store, but it cannot play its own music.
- The link to the old apk: 10401.apk
- You can put it on a tablet after you have deleted the app.
- You can do this, for example, by forwarding this email to the email address to which the tablet is connected.
- Then click on the link on the tablet
- You download the apk
- On the tablet, go to files and then downloads
- You tap the apk to install
- You probably have to give permission
- Then, switch off the auto-update of the Google Play Store uit (more info, see this link): Play Store – Profile – Apps control – Control – MidN – … – Auto-update off.
